1.     Q:   What is a Speakers Bureau?

A:   A Speakers Bureau is an office or organization that provides speakers societies, clubs, interest groups and organizations that require the services of a speaker at their gatherings, events, meetings or functions.

2.      Q:   How does a Speakers Bureau operate in Toastmasters?

A:   It operates in 2 ways:

    1. Within the Toastmasters fraternity, Clubs/Areas/Divisions may want to engage speakers for Toastmasters functions. They can contact the Bureau for suitable speakers for the occasion.
    2. Organizations or interest groups who need speakers at their events may seek the help of the Bureau as a resource.

3.       Q:   Does the Bureau engage speakers from outside of the Toastmasters organization?

A:   No, all speakers engaged by the Bureau must be a Toastmaster in good standing. Additionally the Bureau requires that the speakers be Competent Communicators at a minimum.

4.       Q:   Does a Competent Communicator automatically qualify to be listed in the Speakers Bureau Directory?

A:   No, Bureau Directory listing is not automatic. Toastmasters in good standing may apply for listing. They are then vetted by the Bureau Committee before they become listed in Bureau Directory.

5.       Q:  Can a speaker from the Bureau speak to a non-Toastmasters audience?

A:   Yes, most certainly. When speaking to non-Toastmasters, the Bureau speakers would be expected to introduce the Toastmasters organization to the audience. Apart from having the speaker at the event, the host group also has the opportunity to learn about Toastmasters.

6.      Q:   Do speakers have their own speciality in the area of topics / subjects?

A:   All Bureau speakers have their own topics and subjects of their expertise and interest. These topics / subjects are listed in the Speakers Bureau Directory.

7.      Q:   Does the speaker or Bureau expect cash rewards for the speaking engagement?

A:   No, no cash reward is expected at all. However, if the host group wishes to offer an honorarium or donation, such contributions will be placed in the District Treasury to be used for educational purposes. No member profits monetarily for speaking.
